Headquartered in France, SNF is the world’s largest producer of polyacrylamide.

Water-soluble polymers are used in drinking water production, wastewater treatment, enhanced oil recovery, mineral processing, papermaking, agriculture, textiles, and cosmetics. SNF currently serves customers in more than 130 countries. The SNF Group consists of subsidiaries and joint ventures in over 30 countries and operates 23 production sites across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas.

SNF offers a wide product range with over 1,000 references and launches around 100 new products each year thanks to continuous investment in research and development.

A pioneer in the production and processing of water-soluble polymers, SNF has developed a portfolio of more than 1,000 products that help preserve natural resources, encourage recycling, and improve the efficiency of industrial processes. Our polymers have several additional functions: flocculation, enabling solids to separate from liquids, increasing viscosity, and reducing friction. Our products are used across all sectors, including water: drinking water production, wastewater treatment, sludge dewatering, oil and gas extraction, mining, agriculture, papermaking, textiles, and cosmetic formulations.

A long-term strategy with convincing results

Since SNF was founded, we have continuously explored ways to offer customers the most diverse range of polymers and related services available on the market. We also provide a supply chain with the quality and pricing needed to meet productivity goals. To achieve this, we have developed a long-term strategy focused on innovation and investment. SNF maintains high spending on Research & Development alongside continuous investments in improving and expanding production sites.

SNF now accounts for nearly half of global polyacrylamide production, highlighting the effectiveness of its innovation and investment strategy.

Historical Timeline

1968

Streichenberger shifts Oziol’s business in Saint-Étienne from coal trading to producing coagulants for water treatment.

Flocculant + Streichenberger = FLOERGER. A new brand is born.

1978

SNF is founded. The company is sold several times, first to BP-France, then to WR Grace. After eight unsuccessful projects, the business is acquired by its managers: René Pich, Technical Director, and Hubert Issaurat, Sales Manager. The company has more than 25 employees and revenue of 2 MFRF for 200 tpa.

1987

SNF acquires the Chemtall industrial site in Riceboro, Georgia, USA. Since then, it has become SNF’s largest production facility.

1993

SNF signs agreements with Chinese oil companies in Daqing to build the world’s largest polymer plants.

This close cooperation led to the successful construction of NCF in Riceboro, USA, for the production of cationic monomers.

1999

Enzymatic production of acrylamide begins in Andrezieux, and production of cationic monomers begins in Saint-Avold.

2006

Pascal Remy becomes the new President of SNF. Land is purchased in Vizag, India.

2007

SNF signs a major EOR contract with PDO in the Sultanate of Oman.

2011

Construction begins on new production facilities in Plaquemine, Louisiana, dedicated entirely to the EOR industry. New lines are built in China and France.

2015

Construction begins at new production sites in Saratov, Russia; Billingham, United Kingdom; and Camacari, Brazil.
